Article 153
The following is a requirement in the applicant for obtaining a license to establish a motor vehicle repair shop:
1 - He should hold Qatari citizenship.
2 - He should not be less than 18 years of age.
3 - He should be of good behaviour and conduct, and nor should a final judgement have been passed against him in relation to a crime involving morality or honesty, unless he has been rehabilitated.
Article 154
The license application for establishment of a motor vehicle repair shop shall be submitted to the Traffic Department on the form prepared for that purpose, together with the following:
1- Proof of the identity, age, place of residence and criminal record of the director in charge if not the owner.
2- Engineering drawing for the workshop site and components approved by the relevant authorities in the State.
3- Name of the manager in charge of the workshop if he is not the owner.
Article 155
The conditions specified by the Traffic Department and other relevant authorities must be found in the place to be licensed as a motor vehicle repair shop.
Article 156
The Traffic Department shall issue the license, after verifying that all necessary conditions are found and after payment of the prescribed fee. The license shall be issued in accordance with the template prepared for that purpose at the Traffic Department and shall be valid for a period of one year from the date it was granted. It may be renewed within the thirty days prior to its expiry following the same procedures for issuance and after payment of the prescribed renewal fee.
Article 157
Motor vehicle repair workshops shall be prohibited from carrying out any repairs on a motor vehicle that were a result on an accident, unless based on a written authorization issued by the Traffic Department.
Article 158
Motor vehicle repair workshops shall be prohibited from changing the specification of any motor vehicle such that it no longer conforms to the approved Qatari standard specifications, or which would breach any of the conditions of safety and durability or increase the speed of the vehicle.
Article 159
Motor vehicle repair workshops must abide by the provisions of
Article 24
, the third and fourth paragraph of
Article 68
and the second paragraph of
Article 69
of the Traffic law.
Article 160
Motor vehicle repair workshops must keep written licenses issued by the Traffic Department or copies thereof in a special file for that purpose at the workshop for a period of at least two years.
Article 161
The Traffic Department shall be responsible for inspection of motor vehicle repair workshops. If the inspection reveals that there are contraventions of the provisions of
the Traffic law
, the resolutions that give effect to it, or this bylaw the director of the Traffic Department or his representative may, after conducting an administrative investigation, hearing the statements of the person in charge of the workshop and establishing the contravention, administratively order that the workshop be closed for a period not longer than one month when the contravention occurs for the first time and for a period of three months when it occurs again.
