Articles (1-2)

We, Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Deputy Emir of the State of Qatar;

Having perused the Constitution;

Decree No. 54 of 1995 approving the accession of the State of Qatar to the Convention on the Rights of the Child;

The instrument of partial withdrawal of reservation issued on 27 Rabi I 1430 AH, corresponding to 24 March 2009 AD;

The proposal of the Supreme Council of Family Affairs; and

The draft Decree submitted by the Council of Ministers;

Hereby promulgate the following:

Articles

Article 1

The following text shall be replaced with the text of Article 1 of Decree No. 54 of 1995 referred to above:

“Article 1

The Accession of the State of Qatar to the Convention on the Rights of the Child adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations in its plenary session No. 61 on 20 November 1989 has been approved, a copy of which is annexed to this Decree, and shall have the full force of the law in accordance with Article 68 of the Constitution, with the reservation to the provisions of Articles 2 and 14 of the Convention.”

Article 2

All competent authorities, each within their jurisdiction, shall enforce this Decree which shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
