Education and Culture

28 Article

The Department shall, in agreement with the authorities responsible for education and training, establish curricula for the education and training of judicial detainees. Taking into account their ages, willingness and the terms of their sentences, the management of the institution shall undertake the education and training of judicial detainees.

29 Article

The necessary books required by the detainee, the study process and permission to sit for the prescribed exams shall be facilitated for a detainee wishing to study, in accordance with the rules and procedures defined in the implementing regulations of this law.

30 Article

The Department must enable detainees to take advantage of different media, and put in place special programmes of educational seminars and lectures as well as other entertainment programmes, according to the provisions of the implementing regulations of this law.

31 Article

A library containing permissible books and publications shall be established in each institution. Such books and publications shall aim to educate and edify the detainees. The Department must encourage the detainees to make use of the library in their free time. Judicial detainees may, upon the approval of the Officer, obtain books, newspapers and magazines at their own expense.

32 Article

Detainees shall be granted financial rewards as an incentive if, during their presence in the institution, they learn the Holy Qur'an, or parts thereof, or present research or produce a distinguished work of art, or certain workmanship, or obtain any public, university or higher certificate. The implementing regulations of this law shall determine the financial reward incentive, and the conditions and procedures for granting thereof.

33 Article

In each institution there shall be one or more spiritual leaders from among the specialised preachers. There shall also be at least one specialist in the social and psychological sciences, and the implementing regulations of this law shall define their functions.
